Phase 2 - The Bengtson Pumpkin Farm!!!
But first things first....with Lyla turning 1 and definitely meeting the weight requirement we got right down to business and turned her car seat around. Here she is facing forward...
We drove south for about an hour while Lyla napped. We arrived at Bengtson's Pumpkin Farm - http://www.pumpkinfarm.com/ - and was ready to make a day out of it.
We decided to head "right" and make a big circle...by the looks of the Map provided we decided not to pass anything up...we were ready to have lots of fun.
Note: Michael and I were more excited about the day than Lyla - haha!!!
First up - The Fun House!!
Oh yeah - those would be singing cows...which you can see by Lyla's confused face that she was ready to keep things moving!! Cows don't sing they say Mooooo...
And then came some singing pigs! She had this puzzled look throughout the entire Fun House experience. We blamed it on the fact that she had just woke up but honestly I think she was just a little confused ;)
The perfect Kodak moment of Lyla seeing her first pumpkin....
Don't you always have to stop when you see a cut out board...which is always more fun for the observer but Lyla played the part pretty darn well!!! It didn't hurt that everyone was smiling back at her and telling her how cute she looked!!!!
She didn't want to get very close to the turkey so I had to give her a little support or shall I say nudge....
Feeling a little goofy/giddy about our choo-choo train ride...
Hold on tight Lyla...
Still holding on...
And still holding on....
We weren't too sure about this one but we decided to go for it. What's the worst thing that could happen? We would just be looked upon by everyone as being "those parents" that put their 1 year old child on a "suspect" ride that would make her scream at the top of her lungs and would force the ride to be stopped and make all the other kids sream and cry as well!!!! Awww why not....
She held on tight as I prayed to the heavenly frogs not to go up and down anymore. I really didn't want to enter Lyla in the Guinness book of records as being the youngest person to have a panic attack!! We made it through but I promised her I would never put her on a ride again until she was old enough to tell me if she wanted to participate or not ;)
Now being from the mean streets of Xenia, Ohio, Michael and I are familiar with corn fields, we know how to cow tip, we love a good bond fire...you would almost think we "should" know about pig racing...
Oh no...we had no idea what we were in for....
On your mark, get set, GO!!!!
Hysterical!! Michael and I lost it...hours had past and we still were chuckling...
Lyla aka The Pig Racing Spectator!!!!
Onto the pony ride. Let's think back to Father's Day weekend and our Horse Track adventure. Anyone recall Lyla's reaction when she saw her first 4 legged friend...we have come along way. She actually allowed us to sit her on the pony!!!!
BUT refused to hold on!!! We'll call this the "Look no hands" pose!!!
And the "Look no shoes"...
And finally the look of "Is this ever going to end?" Which I guessed right because when I asked Michael how it went he replied "I am so glad she didn't touch that dirty pony but still get me some baby wipes so I can wipe her hands. How dirty did her shoes get when they fell on the ground? Do we have to do that again?"
It's all for you Lyla :)
After the pony ride she refused to sit down in her stroller ...I think she feared it would be similar to sitting on the pony...she knew she would be safe standing :)
The corn maze - which freaked me out because I couldn't help but think of the movie The Shining!! Okay so it's corn and not tall hedges but it still put me in a state of mind that I could have gone without :)
