Lost track of how many words she can say...definitely too many to count with her saying several new words daily.
We'll call this section - putting her mind to work:
1. Knows colors. When asked she will point to and say a color and will also initiate by pointing out and saying colors in books or objects.
2. Knows shapes: heart, star, circle, triangle, diamond, oval, square, moon
3. Can point out the letters: A,B,C
4. Will repeat all the letters in the alphabet.
5. Will point to things as I count - saying random numbers not in sequence :)
6. Can count to 4 :)
7. Will follow any directions given to her...a great listener!
8. Will repeat anything. My personal favorite is her attempt at Hippopotamus
9. Every morning she picks out what color shoes and necklace she wants to wear. She also requires a banana in a bowl that she carries to the car. She saves the banana until she is strapped in her carseat. When she is finished eating the banana she says "All-done mama" and then takes a tissue out the tissue box and wipes her face.
10. Knows opposites: Hot/cold, up/down, on/off, happy/sad, big/little, yummy/yucky (Thank you Leslie Patricelli board books)
11. When you ask her what book she wants to read she will give you a book title: Itsy, Binkie, No/yes, pout-pout, elmo, choo-choo. And by all means if you give her the wrong one she will say: No no mama itsy.
12. Favorite activities: coloring/drawing, tea party, playing with miniature animals, playing with her kitchen set, pool
13. She loves to act like she is reading. She will climb into the rocking chair in her room and bring a pile of books along and will begin "reading" out loud. (some babbling, some words, some animals sounds...a little bit of this, a little bit of that). She does this in private...when she sees you watching her she gets bashful and stops. One day I caught her reading her Itsy Bitsy Spider book. I about cried when I saw her doing all the hand motions, turning the pages and saying some of the words. (Itsy - WaWa - Down - Out - Sun - Itsy, Itsy Itsy). It's one of those moments I'll never forget.
Other recent developments:
1. Extremely vocal, whiny, testing limits
2. Fake whine, fake laugh
3. Becoming bashful. Takes awhile for her to warm-up around unfamiliar faces. Example: Won't utter a word, grabs onto our legs and hides, runs away from the "unfamiliar" face....
4. Has no interest with going on the potty anymore.
5. Has no interest in sleeping in her big girl bed.
6. Has no idea that she is about to be a big sister....ut oh.
8. Does not like pony rides...more on that later.
9. Can take off clothes and diaper...ut oh.
7. It's Lyla's world and we are all living in it - haha!!!!
Everyday she amazes us with what she remembers or says. Like the other day when she couldn't get the rug to move and called upon "O'toodles" for help. (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) Michael and I looked at each other and said "Oh no she didn't and laughed hysterically" Now whenever she can't do something she calls upon "O'toodles" and of course every time Michael and I act like we see "him" fly down from the sky.

What a wonderful story for her to read when she gets older. She will laugh and you will cry that she is getting so big and reading all the things she did when she turned 21 months. Love mom
